Who Should Attend

Operatives and Supervisors involved in electricity network operations






To provide training and assessment for the basic areas of Health, Safety and Environment for all operatives working on electrical distribution networks in the UK. This course has been designed to assure the basic standard of individuals working on site and to give them sufficient knowledge and awareness to ensure the safety of themselves and others.


This scheme is registered by Energy and Utility Skills.

Course Structure

The course is made up of seven core modules:

1.     You and the Law.

2.      Identification & Control of Hazards

3.     Protecting You

4.     Working Environment

5.     Our Environment

6.     Incident procedures.

                7. Equipment

The course consists of a series of slides using Microsoft PowerPoint software.

After each module is a set of multiple course question are displayed.

Group size

The maximum is twelve participants (with a minimum of 6) per course.


Normally about six hours including paperwork and tests.



The tutor has 30 years experienced in the utility industry as H&S Adviser/ Site Manager / HSE Trainer and Operative. He is a Health and Safety Practitioner, GradIOSH
