Course Aim:

·         To enable delegates to gain a thorough understanding in safe using cable avoidance training in the workplace.

Who should attend:
Any person who has a requirement to use cable avoidance equipment.

 

Course Objective:

The aim of this course is to provide each candidate with the knowledge needed to safely and correctly operate a Basic Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) along with a Signal Generator (GENNY) when tracing underground services.

The course consists of theoretical and practical training involving hands on use of the actual locators to detect and trace the route of buried services.

This will cover the different types of buried services that exist, current legislation concerning detecting buried services, the safety implications of not using a locator plus ancillary locating work to be done (use of cable plans, observation of evidence in the street etc.)

 

 

 

Course Content:

·         Inspection of appropriate cable avoidance equipment

·         Identify utility cables and safe use of cable avoidance equipment

·         Safe use of signal generators

·         Tracing of pipes and safe use of sondes

·         Servicing and maintenance requirements

 

Practical:

·         Demonstration of safe use of cable avoidance equipment

Assessment:

·         Practical use of equipment
